There is more and more talk about Microgreens, which are supposed to be particularly healthy and tasty. But what exactly are Microgreens? And why is everyone talking about them?
The simple secret about Microgreens
At first glance, the word Microgreens doesn't sound like something you'd enjoy, but rather like intricately created plants from the laboratory. But it's actually quite simple: Microgreens are seedlings that are harvested very young. That means you can eat them at a very early stage. As "micro" in the name suggests, they are very small. While "greens" simply describes all the varieties that are suitable for this cultivation.
The small plants have many nutrients.
Why Microgreens are so popular
Lots of nutrients The seedlings are full of energy they would need for further growth. So they contain more vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and other phytochemicals than their adult counterparts, making them especially healthy and nutrient-rich.
Space-saving, quick & easy Due to their size they hardly need any space, they grow incredibly fast and do not need to be processed further afterwards, as they are eaten raw.
Full of flavour You shouldn't be fooled by the size, because the small plants taste insanely intense. For example, Micro Radish is already extremely similar to the later tuber.
Microgreens have a lot of power and taste – there is no reason not to eat them.
